Listed here are some of the volunteer opportunities available at the Clinton River Watershed Council. If you would like to learn more about any of these volunteer opportunities, please contact our office. We'll find out what your availability, interests and skills are and plan an in-person meeting with you to find out what of these opportunities are right for you.
Adopt-a-Stream Volunteer
Adopt-A-Stream and Make A difference!
Adopt-A-Stream is a water monitoring program that is made-up of volunteers who collect information at specific river sites for reporting to local and state governments. Volunteer teams meet at their designated river sites each year; once during the first week May and once during the first week of October. The data collection process takes only 3 hours. The CRWC will provide all training, equipment and support.

Media/News Clippings Volunteer
Do you read one or more newspapers everyday? If so, we may have an opportunity for you!
CRWC is looking for people who are willing to scan community, county and regional newspapers for articles on CRWC programs and water quality issues relevant to our watershed. If you see an article, please mail or scan it and email it to us or drop it off at our office.
CRWC maintains a file of articles on CRWC activities and other water quality related topics that take place in the Clinton River Watershed. We need help locating these articles, ‘clipping’ and filing them.

Clinton Clean Up Volunteer
Clean Up the Messes!
Clinton Clean Up is a community effort! After playing in the watershed all summer long, join CRWC and our volunteer coordinators to collect litter from the riverbanks and parks. You can assist in the removal of invasive species and manage woody debris.

Clinton River Coldwater Project Volunteer
Volunteers are needed to participate in stream bank and river restoration projects.
What is the Clinton River Coldwater Conservation Project? CRWC is partnering with Trout Unlimited and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Fisheries Division to enhance the Clinton River and Paint Creek as an urban trout fishery. A volunteer rally is held each April for an overview of completed projects and to register volunteers for upcoming restoration activities. Projects include temperature monitoring, fish habitat surveys, Aquatic insect identification and habitat improvement that may be completed during weekends or weekdays.

Office Volunteer
There are many ways to volunteer in the CRWC office.
If you have proficiencies with any of the Microsoft Office programs, we have opportunities for volunteerism for you. We always need assistance with preparing mailings, photocopying; filing; preparing folders for workshops and presentations and staffing for events and programs.

River Day Volunteer
Help make the River Day celebration a success!
What is River Day? Every year in early June, individuals, businesses, community groups and local governments across the watershed join forces to enhance and celebrate the Clinton River and Lake St. Clair. Activities range from nature hikes, canoe trips, fishing derbies, fly fishing lessons to storm drain stenciling, river clean-ups, habitat restoration and native landscaping.
Volunteers are needs to assist in staffing and coordinating many of these functions and multiple locations throughout the watershed to continue to make this event the success it has become known and recognized for throughout the area.
