In the spring of 2012, The Clinton River Watershed (CRWC) was awarded with $25,000 to improve the stream bank(s) of the Clinton River as it flows through Yates Park in Rochester Hills http://www.rochesterhills.org/index.aspx?NID=240

This money was made available by the River Network and the Miller/Coors Company (yes, the beer company) in a nation-wide contest for projects that aim to improve freshwater ecosystems and environmental stewardship.  The Clinton River Watershed Council won the contest through the fantastic support of the surrounding communities and residents, but still only won by a mere 5 votes!

The project is currently in its first phase to stabilize a section of stream bank in the park.  Volunteer opportunities will be available during September, late-October and November, and will consist of planting native species in the stream bank to further stabilize and improve the ecological condition of the area.

Please contact Jeremy Geist at jeremy@crwc.org or Michele Arquette at michele@crwc.org for further information regarding the project and volunteer opportunities.  You can also call the office at 248-601-0606.
