There are a large number of local, county & state parks located throughout the watershed. This is an abbreviated list highlighting those parks that provide access to water resources.
Oakland County 1480 West Romeo Road, 9 miles north of Rochester. This 794-acre site offers facilities for swimming, camping, boat and mountain bike rentals, picnicking and group shelters, fishing, hiking and bike trails. Conference facilities are also available. Hours of Operation: 8 a.m. - Sunset, open year round Phone Contact: (248) 693-2432 BALD MOUNTAIN STATE RECREATION AREA 1330 Greenshield Road, Lake Orion, MI. This park offers fishing, swimming, hiking and cross country skiing. A daily or annual vehicle permit is required. Hours of Operation: Open daily, year round, dawn to dusk. Phone Contact: (248) 693-6767 Two entrances are located on the northeast corner of Telegraph and Orchard Lake Roads. The site features boat launching, a fishing pier, tennis and horseshoe courts, a lighted softball diamond, picnic sites and a children's playground. This park offers picnicking shelters and a playground, mountain biking, hiking and cross country skiing trails, a toboggan run, horseshoe pits, multi-purpose sports fields, and sand volleyball courts. This park offers swimming, picnicking, boating, ice fishing, snowmobiling and cross country skiing in season. Hours of Operation: Daily, all year, from 8:00 A.M.-9:00 P.M. Phone Contact: (248) 651-9429 9501 Sashabaw Road, 2 1/2 miles north of I-75 (exit 89), Clarkston. This 1088-acre park contains headwaters of the Clinton River and 68-acre Crooked Lake. Recreational opportunities include picnicking, hiking, fishing, swimming, youth group camping, nature study and 10 miles of nature and ski trials, including 2 paved trails for biking, skating or hiking. The park is home to the Wint Nature Center, offering year round educational programs (call for hours of operation). Hours of Operation: 8 a.m. - sunset, year round. It preserves more that 927 acres of environmentally sensitive green space. Includes a seven-acre off-leash Bark Park for dogs and a wheelchair accessible fishing dock. Hours of Operation: Dawn to dusk during summer season only Phone Contact: (248) 370-9353 Located at the corner of M-59 and Squirrel Road, this riverside park offers facilities for picnicking, canoeing, fishing and nature trails. Hours of Operation: Open daily from dawn to dusk, Memorial Day through Labor Day. Phone Contact: (248) 370-9353 400 6th Street, Rochester MI. Located behind the City of Rochester Municipal Building, this park follows Paint Creek Northward to Woodward Street and features an ice skating pond, tennis courts, picnic pavilions and a Community House. Hours of Operation: Open daily from dawn to dusk, year round Phone Contact: (248) 651-9061 Located at the intersection of Avon and Dequindre roads, across from Yates Cider Mill in Rochester Hills. This park features a scenic turnout, picnic areas, and Clinton River access for fishing and boating. A motor vehicle permit is required for entrance. Hours of Operation: 8:00 A.M. to dusk, year round. Phone Contact: Yates Cider Mill - (248) 651-3800 Macomb County Located between the Clinton River and Clinton River Road off of Romeo Plank Road, this park offers a children's playground, two baseball diamonds, 5 soccer fields, volleyball courts and grills for picnicking. Hours of Operation: 9:00 A.M.-9:00 P.M., year round Phone Contact: (586) 286-9465 METRO BEACH METROPARK, HARRISON TOWNSHIP P.O. Box 1027 Mt. Clemens, MI 48086. Located on Metropolitan Parkway and Jefferson, this large park on Lake St. Clair offers a variety of activities, including a large sand swimming beach and marina and boat launching sites providing access to Lake St. Clair. A daily or annual vehicle permit is required. Boat launch permits are also required. Hours of Operation: Monday-Thursday 6:00 A.M. - 10:00 P.M., Friday, Saturday & Sunday 6:00 A.M.-11:00 P.M. Phone Contact: (586) 463-4581 RIVER BENDS PARK, SHELBY TOWNSHIP The park has two entrances. One entrance is off of 22 Mile Road between Ryan and Shelby roads, and the other is off of Ryan Road at the end of Hamlin Road. This park offers picnic shelters, a children's playground, Clinton River access, fishing, hiking, a disc golf course and a shooting range. Hours of Operation: The main park hours are from 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. or dusk from March through December. The shooting range is open from 8:00 A.M. to dusk on Thursdays and Fridays and from 9:00 A.M. to dusk on Saturdays and Sundays. Phone Contact: (586) 731-0300 Located east of Gratiot Ave, at the intersection of the Clinton River and the Spillway, this park features picnicking, hiking, fishing and a children's play area. Hours of Operation: Dawn to dusk, year round. Phone Contact: (586) 469-6880 4300 Main Oak Road, Washington, MI 48094. The main entrance located at 26 Mile and Shelby Roads, 1.5 miles east of M-53. This large park offers a wide variety or year-round activities including swimming, boating, hiking, golfing and cross-country skiing. Daily or annual motor vehicle permits are required. Hours of Operation: Memorial Day through February, 6:00 A.M.-9:00 P.M., March through Memorial Day 10:00 A.M.-8:00 P.M. Phone Contact: (586) 781-4242 Located south of Hall Road, west of Van Dyke at the crossing of the Clinton River. This park offers picnicking with a great view of the Clinton river. Hours of Operation: Dawn to dusk during summer season only Phone Contact: (586) 731-6110 WETZEL STATE PARK, LENOX TOWNSHIP The undeveloped park encompasses part of Coon Creek, a tributary of the North Branch of the Clinton River. The park is bounded by 28 Mile Road on the north, by Werderman Road on the south and east, and by Imo Road on the west. Hours of Operation: Open daily from 8:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M., year round. Phone Contact: (810) 765-5605 WOLCOTT MILL METROPARK, RAY TOWNSHIP Escape the daily grind at Wolcott Mill Metropark where you can visit farm animals, step back in time at a historic grist mill or play 18 holes of golf. This 2,625 acre park, which also includes Camp Rotary, is located along the banks of the North Branch of the Clinton River in Ray Township, in north central Macomb County. Hours of Operation: The main park hours are from 9 am to 5 pm weekdays, 9 am to 7 pm weekends May through October and 9 am to 5 pm Wednesday through Sunday, November through April.
