Event Detail

Every week, volunteers pick up trash, remove woody debris and perform in-water cleanups during the summer months called “Trash Runs” by paddling up and down the river.

Weekly Clean schedules cleanings at different locations throughout the Clinton River Watershed. Weekly Clean events are for all ages, backgrounds and skill levels with activities ranging from on-land garbage collecting to paddling and water trail cleanups to invasive species removal and native plant installations.

This on-going cleanup campaign is made possible by the hundreds of enthusiastic residents, students and volunteers who come together throughout the year to cleanup the Clinton River, its watershed and Lake St. Clair.

Weekly Clean is every Wednesday 10am – 12pm during field season. Interested volunteers can visit the [Weekly Clean Schedule] to find the next meeting site. For any questions or additional information, please contact the CRWC directly. We look forward to seeing you!

  • Closed-toe shoes are required for your safety.
  • No flip-flops, sandals or open-toed shoes unless operating a kayak.
  • Wear clothes that can get dirty.
  • Be mindful of the weather and dress accordingly.
  • For hot days, we suggest bringing a good hat and an extra shirt.
  • Bringing water and work gloves is also recommended.

Weekly Clean Schedule

  • Weekly Clean events take place April through October.
  • Weekly Clean will be canceled if conditions are deemed unsafe due to weather or if the temperature is below 20°F.
  • We continually update the schedule of cleanup locations. Make sure to check this schedule periodically as sometimes we need to shuffle locations due to unforeseen circumstances.
  • We do our best to announce cancellations 24 hours prior to the event on our website. But when in doubt, please call the CRWC office (248)601-0606.

Weekly Clean Summer Kayaks & Trash Runs

  • For some Weekly Clean events, there will be opportunities to perform in-water cleanups while paddling parts of the Clinton River and Lake St. Clair.
  • Kayaks are always on a first-come first-served basis. During the summer, our friends and partners from Simple Adventures Kayak Rental and Oakland County Parks provide kayaks to support our cleanup efforts.
  • If a cleanup event states “BYO kayak,” it means that no boats will be provided.
  • You are always more than welcome to bring your own canoe or kayak when there are opportunities to paddle.
  • Kayak cleanups and trash runs will be cancelled within 24 hours of scheduled start time if the weather forecast predicts that there will be thunderstorms at the time of event.
  • We do our best to announce cancellations 24 hours prior to the event on our website. But when in doubt, please call the CRWC office (248)601-0606.
