Microplastics Partner Grant

In 2018, Wayne State University researchers were awarded a three-year, $929,000 grant from the Great Lakes Protection Fund. The overall goal of this project is to reduce the presence of microplastics in the Great Lakes. Specific grant objectives include developing sensor technology that will zero in on microplastic sources, engaging the public in microplastics mitigation and monitoring, and scaling up these models for broader application.

The Clinton River Watershed Council is working with ReRoot Pontiac to establish a community outreach and microplastic pollution mitigation campaign in the City of Pontiac. This campaign aims to raise public awareness and engage the public in reducing microplastics in communities surrounding the Great Lakes.
