Green Landscaping

Green landscaping, or Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI), can help capture and utilize stormwater, preventing it from entering the storm sewer system. This improves water quality, recharges groundwater, reduces flood risks, and protects local waterways.

Examples of GSI include:

  • Planting native species to help absorb and filter water. Native plants are easier to maintain, and they add color and beauty to your yard while supporting butterflies, bees, birds, and other wildlife.

  • Installing a rain garden.

  • Buying a rain barrel to collect and use rainwater, which reduces excess water on residential properties.
