River Day 2026

RIVER DAY 2026: BINGO

Please send all photos and videos to shannon@crwc.org.

  1. Take the RiverSafe LakeSafe questionnaire. A free, online survey to help you identify areas of everyday life that impact our local freshwater resources.

  2. Explore the Clinton at Dodge Park.Send your photos and videos to shannon@crwc.org.

  3. Tour the Huntington Woods rain garden. Statue Park, Huntington Rd, Huntington Woods. City officials and residents teamed with CRWC to construct this rain garden using funds from a CRWC WaterTowns mini-grant. This rain garden collects stormwater runoff from the roadway and gives water a chance to soak into the ground and helps nourish the six different native plants that live in the garden. Send your photos and videos to shannon@crwc.org.

  4. Attend a River Day event. Send your photos and videos to shannon@crwc.org.

  5. Visit Clinton Twp Public Works green infrastructure installation. Clinton Twp. Public Works Offices, 40700 Romeo Plank Rd, Clinton Twp. AS part of CRWC’s WaterTowns program, Clinton Township installed a variety of green infrastructure systems to help manage stormwater on site. You will be able to find a naturalized shoreline with native plants along the fishing pond on the west side of the building. Several rain gardens and parking lot island basins are located on the east side of the building. The islands and rain gardens host a few native plant species and help retain a large portion of rainwater that runs off of the parking lot pavement. Send your photos and videos to shannon@crwc.org.

  6. Paddle the water trail. Nestled in the heart of Southeast Michigan, the Clinton River offers a truly engaging paddling experience. Flowing for approximately 80 miles, the Clinton River winds its way through communities, forests, and wetlands, offering paddlers a diverse range of landscapes to explore. Download the water trail map or visit the CRWC office to pick one up. Send your photos and videos to shannon@crwc.org.

  7. Volunteer at a Weekly Clean event. Weekly Clean provides volunteers with regular opportunities to help remove trash and debris from the watershed.

  8. Sign up for a storm drain event. Volunteers will stencil storm drains across Madison Heights this summer. The stencils read, "No Dumping, Drains to River" in order to discourage residents from dumping garbage and other contaminants into drains. CRWC is also looking for five artists to paint storm drains murals in Troy this summer. By combining art and science, these murals will inspire the public to be curious about where the storm water goes and how it impacts our waterways. Sign up at the link above.

  9. Attend a native garden maintenance event. 1115 W. Avon Road, Rochester Hills. Join us for our monthly volunteer opportunity to help maintain native plant and rain gardens around our office. This is a great opportunity to learn how to identify plants, how rain gardens capture stormwater and how native plants benefit water and wildlife.

  10. Explore a public fishing site. The Clinton River, its tributaries, and Lake St. Clair provide excellent fishing opportunities for all types of anglers all season long. Send your photos and videos to shannon@crwc.org.

  11. Check out the CRWC office gardens. 1115 W. Avon Road, Rochester Hills. CRWC currently has three rain gardens and two native plant gardens on the property surrounding our office. Send your photos and videos to shannon@crwc.org.

  12. Visit a kayak launch. Check out our Clinton River Water Trail map to find one of the many kayak launches throughout the watershed. Send your photos and videos to shannon@crwc.org.

ABOUT RIVER DAY

River Day is designed to encourage appreciation and recreational use of the waterways of the Clinton River and Lake St. Clair and to celebrate the leadership of local citizens, organizations, and communities whose efforts are critical to protecting and enhancing the overall quality of the Clinton River watershed.

Every June, individuals, businesses, community groups, and local governments across the watershed join forces on River Day to enhance and celebrate the Clinton River and Lake St. Clair. Activities range from nature hikes, canoe trips, fishing derbies, and fly fishing lessons to storm drain stenciling, river clean-ups, habitat restoration, and native landscaping.
